KSDC`s boycott call fails to dampen I-Day celebration at CCpur

LAMKA, August 16: The 67th Indian Independence Day was cerebrated with pomp at Hiangtam Lamka Public ground at Ccpur amid a general strike called by KSDC and various UGs of Manipur.

Apart from the contingents of the security forces, several schools and colleges participated in the march past and celebration.

Churachandpur District Commissioner, Jacintha Lazarus inspected the guard of honour.

Speaking on the occasion of the celebration as the chief guest, the DC said that this is the moment to remember the forefathers whose efforts and selfless sacrifice had given the nation the joy of being independent.

The district administration is emphasizing on the theme of “clean and green CCpur”, the DC said before urging to all to stop deforestation and help fight both climate change and global warming.

She further said that under MNREGS massive drainage connection was executed after recognizing the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in CCpur and for this year emphasis will be on water supply for which a district level committee will be set up soon.

The DC on the occasion mentioned that various development schemes had been implemented under various department which include the newly inaugurated SSA residential school at New Lamka accommodating more than 100 students from BPL families of the district, six hostels for boys and girls sanctioned under MSDP at every constituency of the district and the NEC sponsored hostel at Rangkai are worthy to be noted.

The active participation of the local communities is essential in a democracy, she said and further added that she express her appreciation to various woman organizations that are involved in preventing drug abuse in their respective localities.

“We must think right and ensure our freedon as independence and freedom can exist only if our thoughts lead us to what is right”, said the chief guest.

Several distinguished persons from different fields were felicitated during the celebration.

The village chief o Hiangtam lamka, CCpur was awarded with the best performance in MNREGS work execution.
