Memorandum submitted to Governor

    IMPHAL, August 22: The Roadside Vendors Welfare Association today said in a press release saying that a memorandum has been submitted to the Governor of Manipur as part of nationwide program under the aegis of the National Hawker Federation.

    The memorandum has demanded that the Hawkers’ Bill 2012 should be passed in the current monsoon session of the Parliament, that a central monitoring task force be constituted by the Govt of India to implement the Hawker Act, a special Hawkers Board constituted to provide social security schemes to hawkers, hawkers should not be included in Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) – they should be included under Employees’ State Insurance (ESI), housing should be provide to all hawkers under Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) and Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM), it said.

    The memorandum was submitted to the Governor by Kshetri Tama Devi, president of the Roadside Vendors Welfare Association; the leader of the Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup, Khwaramband Keithel, L Memma, street vendor S Bilashini, S Bina, K Prema, Chaobi Begam, N Bilashini, L Subadani etc, it said.
