MSF bans pharmaceutical company

IMPHAL, August 5: The Manipuri Students’ Federation has today banned pharmaceutical drugs manufactured by the IVEN Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd following the discovery of foreign particles in a bottle of “ELDEX-P” a multi electrolyte and dextrose injection type manufactured by the company.

Speaking a press conference today, the student body’s general secy RN Koireng told reporters that a bottle with the foreign particles floating were seized from the pharmacy inside the Public Hospital, Hatta Bazar, today.

ELDEX-P is a pediatric solution with 5% dextrose and is administered on children.

The bottle found with the foreign particles was marked as `Mfd date 13 March, 2013; exp date as 15 February, 2015; batch no GI3C008, Mrp Rs 110`, he said and added that the Imphal Drugs promoter, IDP Thangal Bazar is the stockiest of the said drug.

Speaking further, he asked whether the drug is to save life or to take life.

Such insensitivity to the general public’s health issues should not go unchecked, he said.

He said, volunteers of MSF will take up stern action against any agent and drug stores found selling products of the said company.

He further appealed to the general public to understand the issue and be careful and called on the government and its authorities to check such companies and maintain proper laboratories.
