Multiple sit ins demand safe release of seven IFCD employees

IMPHAL, August 3: Sit ins protests were staged at the localities of the IFCD employees kidnapped by armed miscreants demanding their safe and unconditional release including today.

Sit ins were held at Uripok Polem Leikai machin, Lalambung Makhong RIMS road and Naharol Leisemba Club Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai.

Superintending Engineer N Karunacharga is from Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai, Executive Engineer Naorem Surchandra is from Uripok Polem Leikai machin while driver Sarat is from Lalambung.

Speaking to media persons, Lourembam Premjit the son of driver Sarat appealed to the abductors to release the seven including his father, on humanitarian grounds.

The protestors demanded safe and unconditional release of the officials and staffs of the IFCD and the two representatives of the Kolkata based company.

A protestor at one of the demonstrations said it is a shame that the armed miscreants had kidnapped two employees from outside the state and further appealed for their safe release considering the hardship and emotional turmoil of the families.

Further condemning the abduction, the protestor further appealed not to kidnap or abduct people merely for ransom.

It may be mention that the engineers of the Irrigation Flood Control Department along with their drivers and two representatives of R M Sinha Co ltd were abducted by the unidentified armed person.
