Nambul River running above flash point

    IMPHAL, August 6: A day after the water level of the Nambul River was recorded running above the warning level in the wake of the incessant rain in the last few days, the river as of this evening around 5 is flowing above the flood level.

    According to reports from the control room of the IFCD, the flood stage of the Nambul River is recorded at 782.175 mm while its warning level is 781.175 mm.

    The water level of the river had been recorded running above warning level since yesterday, however owing to the continuing rainfall, the water level had been on the rise and is now recorded at 782.400mm, which is above the flood stage of the river.

    Moreover, water levels of other important rivers in and around Imphal have also increased at an alarming rate since yesterday.

    Some of the readings of water levels of several rivers recorded as of this evening 5 are Imphal River-784.925 mm, Lilong River-779.600 mm, Iril River-783.800 mm, Thoubal River-775.950 mm and Nambol River-772.500 mm.

    Whereas the rate of rainfall recorded in several parts of the State in the last 24 hours was Raj Bhavan-15.00 mm, Lamphel-16.60 mm, Kangpokpi-21.00 mm, Saikul-11.00 mm and Litan-15.00 mm.

    There have been, however no reports of caving of the river banks, or overflowing, the reports added.
