Newly crowned Mr World pulls strength for `education free zone`

IMPHAL, August 3: There is a need to change the state educational system as it is unfit for development of the society, said Mr World Dr Ngangbam Santikumar during his reception program hosted by the state Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam at the latter’s office chamber today.

He was crowned the Mr World title while representing Manipur at the Mr World Championship held at Zakynthos in Greece from July 5-7 organized by the International Natural Body building Association (INBA), this year.

The Taiwan-based Manipuri bagged the title in the international event and brought laurels to the State.

Dy Chief Minister Gaikhangam presented a shawl each to the newly crowned Mr World Dr Ng Santikumar and his Taiwanese wife N Chaningleima (Chen Na Tai) who had accompanied him on his trip.

Speaking to media persons Dr N Santikumar said the prolonged and frequent disruptions like bandhs, blockades and general strikes has weakened the state’s educational system.

He further appealed to the state Dy CM to hold proper talks with all leaders and representatives of civil organizations of the state and the state higher authorities and bring an amicable resolution so as to leave the education sector free of all disruptions during any kind of agitations in the state.

Meanwhile, coming back to bodybuilding aspirations, he said, “It is my cherished dream to compete in the Mr World representing Manipur and now my dream has come true and I am really happy”, he said.

He expressed that he succeeded not just because of his hard work but because of his family’s support.

Citing that he had never used steroids in his whole careers of bodybuilding, the newly crowned Mr World said the use of steroids by body builders is harmful in the long run and further urged the state body-builders against the use of such drugs.

Deputy Chief Minster Gaikhangam wished him all the best in his future endeavors.

The Dy CM also lauded him for not only being a Mr World but for also being an English Professor at De Lin Institute of Technology, Taipei.
