Rainfall in Imphal recorded at 37 mm

IMPHAL, August 7: With Imphal City witnessing incessant heavy downpour of rain during the last few days, the rate of rainfall in the city has reached 37 mm as of today.

According to reports culled from the control room of IFCD located at Khoyathong, August 6 of the current year is being recorded as the day with the heaviest rate of rainfall.

As per the data collected by the department at 6 am today, the rate of rainfall in Lamphel was recorded at 37.00 mm while Raj Bhavan recorded at the rate of 35.05 mm.

However, the rate of rainfall in hill areas of the State has not been heavier as compared with in the valley with Kangpokpi recording a 5.00 mm, Saikul at 16.00 mm and Litan recording 19.00 mm of rainfall.

Moreover, owing to the incessant rain in the last few days, water levels of some important rivers of the state are also increasing rapidly.

As per the record of the control room of the dept collected this morning at 6, water levels of some of the important rivers are Imphal River-784.375 mm, Nambul River-781.900 mm, Thoubal River-776.200 mm, Nambol River-772.300 mm, Lilong River-779.350 mm and Iril River-783.150 mm.

Among the rivers, except for the Nambul River, water levels of other rivers including the Nambol River are  running above the warning level of 772.050 mm, the reports added.
