IMPHAL, Aug 2: The Chanura Marup, the woman front of the Manipur People’s Party has today said in a press release that under the centrally sponsored scheme of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), the Govt of Manipur has engaged a large number of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers on a mere consolidated monthly entitlement while it further continued to add that this O Ibobi led Congress Govt did not release the monthly entitlements of the Angalwadi Workers and Helpers for 14 months.
The inability to release funds in time means that the implementing agency of the scheme that is the Social Welfare Department has violated the guidelines of the scheme thereby misusing the funds for their selfish ends, it said.
It is further said that the Social Welfare Minister should resign for not taking befitting actions against those officials who have misused the funds by violating the guidelines of the scheme while further adding that if the concerned Social Welfare Minister does not resolve the problem of Angalwadi Workers and Helpers in time, Chanura Marup will launch stern agitation in the interest of the people of Manipur, it said.
The press release thus concluded by saying that the Govt of Manipur should own the consequences of the agitation.
