IMPHAL, August 16: The Sericulture department of Manipur launched its official website, www.scrimanipur.in, along with the release of handbook on prospect & potential of Sericulture
Industry in Manipur at the office chamber of the Sericulture Minister, Manipur.
The website and handbook focuses mainly on providing easy access to the people & farmers about Sericulture and the Sericulture Department of Manipur. The function was graced by Govindas Konthoujnrn Minister (Commerce & Industries/Sericulture & Vety and A & H) O Nabakishore Singh, Principal Secretary (Commerce & Industries/ Sericulture) as Chief Guest & President respectively.
Speaking on the occasion Govindas Konthoujarn said the Manipur Sericulture Project Phase- II will be implemented with the hope of not less than 50 percent success as Phase-I have succeeded 50 percent. He also said the launching of website will help in bringing about development from the grass root level & access to the department will be on the fingertips of the people through the website with more transparency.
Further, he mentioned that the handbook will help the common people & farmers to gain knowledge about the industries near them & types of silk available for cultivation.
It will also motivate, educate and inform the farmers with more trenchancy in the work process of the department.
O Nabakishore Singh said the Phase-I & Phase-Il projects are the most awaited projects as it focuses on traditional products made from Castor (Kege), silk (Muga) etc with leading industries in Leimaram, Pheiyeng,Khurkhul, Sekmai. He further said the government will help in financing the Cocoon producers by buying a minimum rate of Rs 400/ and providing it to the industries and dealers.
Victor Keishing, MLA, (Phuugyar A/C) & Parliamentary Secretary TD & Hills/IT), Z Kikhonbou Newmai, MLA, Tamei A/C and vice chairman, Hill Area Committee and Kh Devendro Singh MLA (Sekmai A/C) also attended the function.
