IMPHAL, August 5: Angered over the failure of the authorities to take necessary actions regarding the construction of the needed toilet facilities in the DM College of Commerce, students of the college today dismantled the boys’ toilet of the college.

The students further decried the state Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro for his failure to commit to his earlier promise of improving the educational system and infrastructure in the college which he had announced in 2012.

General secretary of the students’ union of the college, Ngasepam Saphaba lamented that ever since he was admitted in the college, he has found the toilets in the college in a deplorable and shocking condition which has never improved till date.

In the present condition, the students are unable to use the toilets as the authorities have neither constructed new toilets nor repaired the old ones. As such, it is better to be dismantled, he said.

The students have made numerous appeals to the concerned authorities on the issue, however, no one has ever listened to the appeals, he continued.

He further expressed that unless the authorities construct a new toilet facility for the college within a month`s time, the students of the college will take up various forms of agitation.
