IMPHAL, August 10: A tree plantation drive organised by Maichou Langol Lukhoi Ningshing Thougal Trust was carried out today at Maichou Thel Yumjao Manbee, Langol with Thiyam Mahendra Pratap Singh, Conservator of Forest, Central Circle, Dept of Forest leading the plantation drive.
Around 200 tree saplings were planted in the forest area.
Speaking on the sidelines of the plantation drive, Maibam Ibochouba Khuman, president Maichou Langol Lukhoi Ningshing Thougal Trust said the Maichou Thel Yumjao Manbee at one time was devoid of trees and plants but at present following the initiatives taken up by the youths of the locality and other people, the area is now vastly covered by trees and plants.
He further said to oversee the place as a greenery site was a long cherished dream which has now been fulfilled.
