IMPHAL, Sept 14: The Manipur People’s Party has condemned the blast in a press release terming the violent incident as “unfortunate”.

The party has urged the state government to look into the matter and take serious steps instead of the “standard form” of condemnation for a terrorist act, “zero in to the core issues/problems that might have helped or factored for such ugly incidents, like unhindered influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, Nepal through Assam, etc.”

“The Chief Minister must understand that sentiments and emotions do not solve problems.”

The statement expressed, “The MPP believes that the people of Manipur has an infallible duty and that the duty is we all sections of the people, must maintain the basic culture and civility not to use violence, against any unarmed civilian irrespective of nationality or otherwise, because that would forfeit our claim to the civilization that our forefathers had nurtured and lived for centuries and centuries together.”

Whoever is responsible for such an inhuman act should come to its senses and must not repeat it again so that this land of ours is not clubbed together with the Indian states where people just kill each other just for caste and religious matters, it said.

Meanwhile, a separate press release of the BJP has said that the state unit president has shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family whose dear ones lost their lives in yesterday, Khoyathong bomb blast.

The statement further charged the Ibobi led Congress government of its failure to maintain proper law and order in the state.

The lives and property of the general public are not safe even in such a fortified zone of Imphal city, it lamented.
