Alleging government negligence for missing out on awards function `unfortunate`, says Okendro

IMPHAL, September 15: Keishamthong High School received the Best Government School, 2010-11, 2011-12 which was presented by the state Education minister M Okendro Singh during an award distribution ceremony at the Sanglen of Ima Ibemma Khunthok Hanbi, DM College campus organized by Romi Industries.

The award for the year 2012-13 was received by Lamding High School.

The award instituted by Romi Industries, Thangmeiband includes a cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with a memento.

Meritorious awards were also distributed to students of the two schools which were donated by Higher and Technical Education, Commissioner P Vaiphei in the name of his late brother, Pomlenshang Vaiphei.

Teachers of the said two schools were also awarded.

The education system of the state has witnessed a lot of development and changes, the Education minister claimed.

With the selection of qualified teachers under RMSA and SSA, the department will bring quality education in the state, he said.

He further dismissed the allegations of political parties that a school teacher from the state had missed out from the National Teacher’s Award Distribution Ceremony at New Delhi due to negligence on the part of the department as unfortunate.

Declaring that it would be wrong to blame someone else for one’s own mistake, he said that it was not due to the negligence of the Education department.

The Minister said the biometric system has been installed in most government schools and colleges and will soon be made totally operational.

Thangmeiband MLA, Khumukcham Joykisan Singh speaking at the function said that the central government have implemented various scheme for the welfare of education and every person should take responsibility to take their benefit.
