IMPHAL, September 11: The Organizing Committee of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Manipur today organized a “Run For The Nation” in commemoration of the anniversary.
The run was flagged off from the THAU ground in the morning at 7.
Participants in the run took along the Thangmeiband road, continued along the NH 2 stretch from DM College Southern Gate upto Khongnang Ani Karak, CHingmeirong and concluded at the THAU ground.
The run was followed by another program at 9 am which was attended by Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykishan Singh as chief guest, ex-Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University Hijam Tombi as president and social worker Dr Jamini as the guest of honour.
Addressing the program, the MLA said Swami Vivekanda’s motto was the betterment of the society and the belief that people from all works of life should work together for a better living.
He advised that the people need to follow the ideology of Swami Vivekananda and further encourage youths to follow.
