IMPHAL, September 11: City police today seized a sizeable number of local made liquor and Indian made Foreign Liquor during a special drive from various parts of Imphal city besides picking up 16 persons for selling the seized liquor and found to be drinking.
Speaking to media persons, while displaying the seized liquor; City police OC RK Tejbir said that the liquor were seized from several hotels located at Polo ground, Paona Bazar, Videocon galli, Nagamapal Punsi keithel and Rupmahal Tank today by City police personnel teams and sized altogether 250 litres of local made liquor and 170 bottles of different brands of beer and whiskey.
He further said the detained 16 persons and the seized liquor will be handed over to the concerned Excise department tomorrow.
Such drives against intoxicants will continue in the jurisdiction of the city police, he said.
