    IMPHAL, Sep 7: A program on documentation on Human Rights Violation and Advocacy and Meeting on Violence against Women was conducted from September 6-7 at Shekinuh Inn, Tamenglong District HQ organized by the Naga Women’s Union (NWU), Indigenous Women and Children Foundation (IWCF), Women Development Organization (WDO) and Indigenous Women Forum North East India (IWFNEI), said a statement of the NWU.

    Altogether, 34 and 95 women from different villages attended the programs respectively, it said before adding that the main discussion of the training and meeting included understanding the importance of documentation and advocacy and customary practices of Zeliangrong in addressing Violence against Women and Land Alienation.

    Further according to the statement, the meeting resolved to have more such awareness program; review, add and rectify more traditional laws to safeguard the Women and Land on Customary Law; to empower women – economically and in the Decision Making mechanism; to document – on Customary Laws and Practices and on Land Alienation.
