IMPHAL September 10: The Manipur University in coordination with the family members of (Late) Dr Huirongbam Atulchandra Singh today unveiled a statue of Dr Huirongbam Atulchandra Singh at 11:00 am at the Library Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur.
Laishram Birendrakumar Singh eminent musicologist, Prof H Nandakumar Sharma Vice Chancellor of Manipur University and H Romani Singh social activist & Prof Elangbam Dinamani Singh president of Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Imphal graced the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
During the function, the works and life of Dr Atulchandra were mentioned by the speakers of the function.
Dr Atulchandra Singh was an eminent educationist and a social activist. One high school and many LP schools at Naorem Leikai, Kyamgei, Langthabal Lep, Nameirakpam Leikai, Langthabal Kunja and even at Khongjom area were founded by him in the 1930’s.
