JIRBAM, Sept 10: A private residence caught fire today around 4:30pm at Sorok Atingbi Khunou in the Jiribam sub division of Imphal East district.
The owner of the house has been identified as Y Ashok Kumar. Some Home Guard personnel were also staying at the house.
Timely intervention by a team of Jirbam Fire Brigade Service managed to control the fire and causing further large scale damage. However, some portions of the wall and ceiling made of bamboo were destroyed by the fire. A personnel of the Home Guard said that the fire could have been started from an LPG cylinder leakage.
