IMPHAL, Sept 19: A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspected to have been planted by cadres of an UG Group was found from the roadside near the Iril River at Huidrom Makha Leikai about 6 km south west of Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East District this morning around 6:30.
Reports said the IED believed to be a remote controlled device was found by a combined team of Imphal East District Police Commando and 30 Assam Rifles.
It may be mentioned that another IED was found planted by unidentified miscreants near the waiting shed of Yourabung Khunou under Lamlai Police Station on September 15 following which, the police had disposed it off later.
