Jiri police takes up eviction drive on illegal shops

    JIRIBAM, September 21: Following instructions of the ADC Jiribam, the Jiribam Police today dismantled around 15 shops set up illegally at Jiri Bazar and Teacher Colony along the National Highway 37.

    With the shop owners failing to comply with the notice served to them informing to remove their shops being opened illegally alongside the highway, the dismantling process was effected by the police team led by the Addl SP O Menjor Singh, Jiri Police using JCB.

    According to Addl Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Y Iboyaima Singh, the shops were removed in view of the rising population, road accidents and traffic jam in Jiribam sub-division.

    For this, an official notice was sent to the shop owners earlier. He also said that several shops set up illegally in Jiribam proper will also be removed in time to come.
