IMPHAL, September 14: Following the death of a 25 year old pregnant woman from Lamshang Bazaar at RIMS hospital late last night after she was allegedly administered with an injection, angry residents of the deceased`s locality blocked the road in the locality.

The deceased is identified as one A Bijita, wife of A Sanatomba of Lamshang Bazaar. Alleging that the ill-fated incident happened due to negligence of doctors, residents of Lamshang Bazaar grew unruly.

Police had to resort to firing tear gas shells to disperse the angry protestors but one was reported to be injured in the police firing.

The deceased was reportedly admitted at the RIMS yesterday evening for the delivery of her first child following labour pains.

She was taken inside the operation theatre for a caesarean operation. After some time, the hospital staff informed the family members that the deceased complained of allergy (itching) after she was administered with an injection to begin the operation, informed a source.

Minutes later, she was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward where she succumbed in the ICU at around 10.30, said the source.

However, the cause of death is yet to be ascertained till the filing of this report.
