MIT students demonstrate against Principal in charge, demand change of head

IMPHAL, September 16: The students of Manipur Institute of Technology, MIT staged a sit in protest in-front of the institute against the Principal in charge, Dr Th Kulachandra for not providing proper infrastructure and facilities at the institute and to change the Principal in charge.

The students had also demanded action against the Principal in charge from the concerned authorities of the college.

Regarding the problems faced by the students of the college and mismanagement of the college, the students submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor, MU as the MIT is a constituent college under MU.

Speaking to media persons, a student said the Principal is mismanaging the institutional functionary which resulted to the non-improvement of the college.

He alleged the Principal of misusing funds meant for the institution collected during admission of the students.

He has never organized any fundamental co-curricular activities and welfare of the students, the student further charged.

The laboratory equipment`s are outdated and the institute does not maintain the admission structure mentioned in the prospectus, the students on protest echoed.

The Principal in charge is more interested in repairing works things which are still functioning properly, the students continued.

The sanitation works in the college has been lying neglected, while the library has no proper facilities and insufficient books, another student said.

No extra-curricular or vocational training facilities that can give an overall personality development initiative for the welfare of the students are provided, said the student.

The students further charged the Principal in charge of being unresponsive to the appeals of the students and threatening the academic career of students.
