IMPHAL, September 14: The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) have deeply mourned the sad demise of Dr Khumbongmayum Sharat Chandra, veteran mountaineer and a life member of MMTA who passed away on September 12.
The members and patrons of the MMTA prayed for the departed soul and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
Dr Sharat Chandra was the expedition doctor of Everest Base Camp Trekking Expedition to Mt Kalapathar in Nepal in 1997 and participated in the Mt Everest Expedition led by Santosh Yadav as the expedition doctor in 2001. His final expedition in field mountaineering was the Pre-Everest Expedition to Mt Nepal Peak of Sikkim Himalayan as the Expedition Doctor in 2011, the release added.
