IMPHAL, Sept 18: The Chanura Marup, Manipur People’s Party has today in a press release expressed its gratitude to the Prime Minister for the care shown to it by intimating them – sending a letter of the steps taken by the Prime Minister`s Office asking the Union Home Secretary on the September 4, 2013 to take up ‘appropriate action’ of the demands made by Chanura Marup in their memorandum on behalf of the people of Manipur on the issue of border fencing.

However, the Chanura Marup has reminded that it is unacceptable to the people of Manipur to lose their land further adding that Kabow Valley was lost in 1953 and Namphalong in the 1970s.

It said the Government of India`s only interest is to please the Myanmar government at the cost of Manipur. The recent case of Government of India`s direction to Manipur government to restrain the ministers from visiting the border area is a case in point, it further pointed out.
