IMPHAL, September 13: A man charged of attacking his wife using a large sword at Hamleikhong E Block under Ukhrul Police has been arrested after he was remanded to police custody.
The man has been identified as Hopeson Leison of Seikhor Village in Ukhrul District but presently staying at Hamleikhong E-Block.
Reports said the couple have been living together with their children for a long time. Hopeson is charged of ill-treating his wife Genevive Leison (52) since about 2001.
Unable to bear the trauma, Genevivie Leison had complained about the conduct of Hopeson numerously to her husband’s father, mother and brothers but no help was extended to her.
The reports further said that after Hopeson tried to attack Genevivie using a sword she filed a written complaint with the Ukhrul Police Station on September 9 evening and a case was registered under FIR No 37 (9) 2013 UKL PS U/S 498-A/34 IPC.
Later, Hopeson was arrested by the police and produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ukhrul. The court has now remanded him to police custody till September 16.
