IMPHAL, Sept 20: The People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has today wished the people on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, 2013.
A statement signed by the outfit’s assistant secretary, publicity and propaganda, Leibak Ngakpa Luwang said this year’s theme of the day is “Education for Peace”.
The United Nations had resolved to observe the International Day of Peace in 1981 on September 21, the statement said. The day was set to encourage people to take steps to boost peaceful co-existence, it said.
Several people are killed every year in the land due to the conflicts between armed groups and the Indian security forces, it said before adding that in order to control the movement, Indian security forces are present everywhere thereby militarising the land.
