RIMS students stage sit in demanding hostel facilities

    IMPHAL, September 21: Medical students of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) today staged a sit in protest in front of the Dental College demanding hostel facilities to students who could not get hostel facilities and against disturbances of classes.

    Speaking to media persons during the sit in protest, Professor Anatomy Th Narayanbabu said that around 15 percent of the 1st year students and 10 percent of the 2nd year students of RIMS are not being provided hostel facilities.

    He said most of the students who could get hostel facilities are from the state and during the frequent bandhs in the state, the students face a lot of problems to attend their classes.

    Prof Th Narayanbabu further said that an inquiry committee has been set up regarding the death of a young housewife from Lamshang on 13 September during her first child delivery case, to find out the cause of the death and said that the report will be submitted in two weeks-time. Necessary actions will be taken up once the inquiry team hand over the report, he added.
