Sole MPCB employee stages sit in

    IMPHAL, Sept 9: In a never  before witnessed development in the state, an infuriated employee of the Manipur Pollution Control Board today staged a lone sit in protest against the government’s failure to release the salaries of the employees of the board for five months, March to July.

    The employee identified as Sample Collector, Netrajit today sat alone in front of the office of the board at Lamphel in defiance of the authorities for failing to release the salaries for five months.

    He was arrested by a team of the Lamphel police around 1pm from the spot and was released around 4:25pm after signing a Personal Release Bond.

    There are 19 regular and 36 contract staffs of the board however, after the others failed to support the demonstration, he came out  and staged a sit in protest alone holding a placard which read, “Release of salaries from March to July, 2013”.

    He said, he had earlier filed an RTI seeking answers on the failure of the authorities to release the salaries, however, the reply had said it is in process.
