IMPHAL, Sept 14: A goods laden truck carrying assorted hardware items was partially burned when it caught fire all of sudden this evening at Khabam Lamkhai near NRL oil pump, under Heingang Police station Imphal East.
Police sources said that the fire broke out around 5:50 pm while it was parked near the NRL oil pump.
With timely intervention of the fire service, the fire was prevented from completely damaging the truck. However, 30 percent of the goods loaded on the truck were reportedly burnt.
The registration number of the truck is identified as AS-01-DD-6373.
Sources said that the fire might have been sparked by the combination of water and lime (white wash) in the truck which ignited the fire.
The truck was carrying lime (White Wash) and it was raining when the fire erupted.
