11 injured as two buses collide

IMPHAL, October 18: At least 11 people, including a minor boy and six women, were injured when two buses packed with passengers collided in front of an oil pump at Sangaiprou along Imphal Tulihal Airport road during rush hour Friday afternoon.

All the injured were taken to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital here. However, many of them with minor injuries had left the hospital by late afternoon after receiving first aid.

Police reports said the accident happened around 2 pm after a speeding Imphal-Thanga passenger bus hit a Churachandpur-Imphal passenger bus as it attempted to take a turn and resume its journey after filling fuel at Sangaiprou Bharat Petroleum Oil Pump.

All the 11 passengers injured in the mishap were travelling in the Imphal-Thanga service bus, the reports said.

A regular FIR has been filed with Singjamei Police Station in connection with the incident.
