All community body floated, pledges to maintain peace and harmony in state

IMPHAL, October 20: Citizen’s Welfare Front (CWF), an apex body formed by organizations and social leaders representing various communities from hills and valley, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the goal of maintaining peace, unity and communal harmony in the state at a function held today at the office of CWF located at Patsoi Part-I in Imphal West district.

The MoU was signed in the presence of representatives of various tribal communities, meitei and meitei pangal in which the goal of the CWF – to secure the present society free from all kinds of complex issues and unite together peoples from hills and valley – was announced. The front informed that it would stage various form of democratic agitation like sit-in protest, rally etc in collaboration with village chiefs, leaders of communities, clubs and civil society organizations to meet its demands.

Speaking at the function, Mangal, chairman-cum-founder of CWF stated that this is the first time in the history of Manipur that people from hills and valley had come together to create a common platform for youths in the state with the objective of ushering peace and harmony.

He further stated that the CWF would recruit youths aged between 15 and 35 years as its members only so as to assemble a better workforce adding that in order to face the present situation of the state where youths are victimized through Armed Forces Special power Acts 1958 (AFSPA), drug smuggling, crime against women, rape etc, CWF would confront the problems and bring an ideal solution.

He continued that members who are enrolled in the CWF will issue a card in the name “Meecham Volunteer Card” after getting approval from the respective local governing body and CWF. The card would be proof that the person is legitimate citizen of India and is not involve in any anti-social activities.

“If the card holder possesses a wrong or mistaken identity against the CWF wishes then the person will be terminated from the CWF and will never be allowed to be a part of it again,” he asserted.

Saying that the CWF will come up with a series of agitations if any of the card holders is victimized, he further informed that the organization will launch an awareness campaign under the theme ‘’Youth for Social Change” to make all understand the role of the youth of the state after taking valuable advice from elders and renowned persons who are well verse with the knowledge of indigenous history.

Today’s function was also attended by Muni Raja Khan, secretary-cum co-founder of CWF and Ankham Maring, publicity secretary-cum-co- founder of CWF.
