IMPHAL, October 11: The All Manipur Students Union has today asked the barbers in the state to mutually out new rates for hair-cutting and other saloon services on October 22 at 11am at the Union`s headquarters.
Speaking to media persons, AMSU president Thiyam Naresh said the decision of the All Manipur Barbers’ Association to charge Rs 30 for hair cutting and Rs 20 for shaving cannot be imposed by the Association and added that the student union will closed down and never allowed to re-open any such barber of saloon found imposing their own revised rates.
Terming the rates of the barbers as unreasonable, Naresh further appealed to the public not to entertain any such rates as quoted by the barbers other than the old rate.
He said there has been no instruction even from the labour department for increase in the hair cutting rates and further appealed to all political parties not to turn it into a political issue.
