IMPHAL, Oct 7: A meeting of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) Standing Committee held today has decided that the union will not be a part of Publicity Sub-Committee of the ensuing Sangai Festival to be held under the Tourism Department, Government of Manipur from November 21-30.
According to a statement of AMWJU, a representation of union led by its president Wangkhemcha Shamjai, gen secy GA Naocha Sharma and standing committee member Ratan Luwangcha took part in the meeting held at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat following an invitation sent to the Union. During the meeting, the AMWJU representatives were not treated well and also not given any chance to express their views. Moreover, they were not considered for further Publicity Sub-Committee meetings. Given the attitude and ill treatment meted towards the representatives today, AMWJU is compelled to pull out from the Publicity Sub-Committee of the Sangai Festival, the statement said.
