IMPHAL, October 19: A political training camp of the BJP held at Imphal was attended by more than six hundred trainees including more than 100 leaders from various hill areas of the state today.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Gangmumei Kamei, National vice-president, BJP ST Morcha and Co-Chairman, Core Committee Manipur Pradesh explained the concept of positive secularism which is a main principle of the party, saying that the term secularism is usually regarded as non religious or not concerned with religion with the Constitution having declared India as a sovereign socialist democratic and secular republic, and the People’s Representation Act 1952 mandated the requirement of every political party to declare its belief in the Secularism of the Constitution.

He further added that BJP has been portrayed as an anti-secular party due to the propaganda of the Congress, stressing that the allegation of BJP being against cow slaughter is a result of the misreading of U.P. Cow Slaughter Act 1956 as introduced in Manipur by the Congress Government and that this Act did not prevent any citizen of India from consuming beef.

The speech was appreciated by the trainees as important and valuable.
