IMPHAL, October 23: Dr Ng Bijoy Singh, Khurai MLA has been appointed as the Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board with immediate effect.
Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, released the official order today.
Immediately after the order, the new Chairman assumed office this evening at around 3 pm and interacted with the staff.
He gave assurances to them that he will convene a meeting within short notice to discuss the shortcomings and plights afflicting the department.
During the interaction, the staff also reportedly apprised the new Chairman of their concern over the sharp deduction in the budget of the department.
In response, Dr Bijoy Singh assured that he will be taking up the matter with the Chief Minister.
It may be mentioned that the staff of Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) have not received their salaries for seven months. In this regards a sit-in-protest was also staged recently demanding the release of pending salaries.
