    IMPHAL, October 3: A two days state level farmers training programme on winter vegetable cultivation under Horticulture Mission for north-east and Himalaya state/region (HMNEH) was inaugurated today at the Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel.

    The program which will be conducted in four batches of 100 farmers in each batch will continue till October 10.

    Several resource persons will speak on separate topic including winter vegetable cultivation, vermiculture in vegetable crops, mushroom cultivation, insect pests & disease management of horticultural crops on the first day of the two day programme which will be participated by 100 farmers including 25 each from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur.

    The farmers will be taken to a field visit on the second day.

    Addressing media persons today, Agriculture Officer (HMNEH) K Jogeshchandra said that the HMNEH scheme was started in 2002-03 and has been providing benefits in different districts of the state.

    The scheme includes planting of flower, vegetables, spices and many other products, he said.

    The scheme is also implemented in the hill districts, he said.

    On September 4, the farmers attending the programme will be taken on a field visit of Khongngampat orchids, Leimaram Rose garden, Kacking garden and some vegetables farms.
