IMPHAL, October 10: The dead body of an 18 year old girl, reportedly a class 12 student of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School was found under mysterious conditions with a knife injury on her stomach lying on a bed at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai which belongs to her family.
The dead body was recovered from a vacant house which belongs to her family around 6pm.
Sources said, she had left her uncle identified as S Rojen’s residence at Kakwa Lamdaibung Lampak yesterday around 11am where she has been staying for the past few years and had failed to return until her dead body was recovered.
The girl stays with her uncle while her family is settled in the Canchipur area and runs a grocery shop there. The family residence where her body was recovered from was vacant and unoccupied.
Family members identified the girl as the daughter of Tomba of SIngjamei Waikhom Leikai.
After she failed to return, the family members speculated that she could have eloped and were waiting for a call in this regard, said a family member.
Soon the family members started searching for her and tried contacting her friends but to no avail. When the family members went to the vacant home, they found her lying in a pool of blood on the first floor of the house.
A knife suspected to be used in the alleged crime was found lying nearby the dead body and the room was found locked from outside, the family member said.
Soon after the family member informed the police, a large number of police including Imphal West SP, K Jayanta arrived at the scene.
Later, the dead body of the girl was picked up by the police and deposited at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) morgue for the post mortem.
