IMPHAL, October 9: One LPG showroom of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) which is attached to the office of the M/S Athokpam Indane Services was today inaugurated at Thoubal Athokpam.
During the function, awareness for economic use and safe handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) was also organized for the LPG consumers of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal district, T Ranjit Singh attended the function as chief guest and A Manjuri Devi, Councilor of ward number 5 of the Thoubal Municipal Council presided over the function while Dr AK Jhalajit Singh, SP of the district and N Kasung, Cell Officer of LPG for the state of Manipur were guests of honour respectively.
After formal inaugural function, N Kasung IOC LPG cell officer made his deliberation that people are wrongly using LPG in Manipur, adding that the LPG meant for domestic purpose are utilized in the commercial purpose.
He further mentioned that LPG connection must be registered in one’s own name according to Know Your Customer (KYC), instead people are using LPG connection registered in the names of others adding that this will cause problem while making insurance claims later on.
He also said that LPG is sold at subsidized rate of Rs 424 which actually cost Rs 1192 per cylinder which means that LPG is the most costly consumer item in India.
N Kasung appealed to the consumers not to stockpile LPG of more than 6/7 cylinders at a time which is an offence and at the same time, requested to use LPG economically and efficiently.
Later on, the proprietor of RBD Gas Agency, G Robindro Sharma spoke on the safe use of LPG and also made a live demonstration of how to use gas stoves effectively.
The Superintendent of police of the district, Dr AK Jhalajit Singh said that the gas agency should not sell gas cylinders in black market adding that no one is considering the safety while purchasing cylinder from black market. He further said that human life should not be compromised.
The proprietor of M/s Athokpam Indane Service, O Buddhi Singh asserted that his gas agency has launched home delivery services in a short time of its service in the district.
