Maoist Communist Party claims assassination bid on gen secy foiled

    IMPHAL, October 11:  A press statement of the Maoist Communist Party has alleged that a high ranking official of a political party, without the party’s official sanction or approval made an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate the General secretary of the outfit, Chiranglen Meitei in the first week of October. The attempt was uncovered when the ruse used by the team from the abovementioned political party became suspicious, it said.

    The statement signed by Nonglen Meitei, Secretary Publicity and Propaganda of the proscribed group said that the outfit will mete out appropriate punishments without fail in due time.

    The release further stated that a major reshuffle has been affected in light of the developments with every possible security precautions taken up with the General Secretary of the group overseeing the workings of the Central Military Commission (CMC) while all other activities previously under the General secretary will be taken up by Loinaidaba Meitei. It further added that Pibaalen Meitei will take over as finance secretary and the letterhead being used till date has been discontinued with a new one of a dragon, hammer and sickle in yellow replacing the old one.
