Meetei Mayek Diploma Competition held at Kakching

    IMPHAL, October 2: As part of an ongoing venture to promote Meetei Mayek, the Meetei erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) conducted a Meetei Mayek Diploma Competition today at the Central Primary School Kakching by the Kakching Branch at 10 am. Around 70 students took part in the competition. A press release by the Lup on the occasion  announced a 3 days seminar scheduled for the last week of December 2013 to formulate policies and plans that will effectively revert back the increasing assimilation of foreign terms and dialects into the traditional language with the help and suggestions from scholars and subject experts. Further, the communiqué states that a State level discussion will be held at the head office of the Lup on October 8 with representatives from all the districts . A State wide drive to enforce the use of Meetei script on number plate of vehicles, hoardings and advertisements, wrappers and labels of food and other products, signboards etc. will also commence from October 10, it said.
