`MGNREGA, the only source of livelihood of Irang areas`

KANGPOKPI, October 11: “If Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gaurantee Act is not implemented, the people of Irang Areas would have been vanished long time back”, pointed out Hari Prasad Nepal, GB, Irang Part-I.

Irang area under 50-Kangpokpi AC is located along Imphal-Tamenglong Road, commonly known as IT Road, said to be one of the oldest road of the state.

The area which have been divided into Irang Part-I and Irang Part-II comprises of 28 villages where Irang Part-I consists of 12 villages while Irang Part-II consists of 18 villages.

Hari Prasad was speaking at the inauguration function of Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Sewa Kendra at Paudel Basti, Irang Part-I where Nemcha Kipgen, MLA 50-Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency, DK Thangboi, Addl Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, Bhumi Prasad Basnet alias Vikash, EM, SHADC-Kpi and Rajkumari Sedai, ex-Zilla Parishad member, Kanglatongbi attended as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.

The inaugurated Community Hall has been constructed under MGNREGA, according to the organizing committee.

Traditional Nepali dance and Buddhist Dance marked the grand occasion.

Speaking on the occasion after inaugurating the Community Hall, MLA Nemcha Kipgen lauded the tireless efforts of peoples of Irang and pointed out the important facilities serve to the people by such Community Hall.

She also expressed her wholehearted happiness to inaugurate such an important property of the peoples of Irang during the religious festival Durga Puja and urged everyone to utilize the hall for upliftment and development of the areas.

The MLA also distributed cattle to the 28 villages temples as a gift on the occasion of Durga Puja while asserting that one should not differentiate on the basis of one`s religion.

Everyone should keep due regard and honour to one`s religion, added the MLA.

The MLA also lauded the support and efforts of women welfare of the areas and strongly emphasis the important of Women empowerment for the upliftment of society and in bringing changes to the society economically, socially and politically.

Addl Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi DK Thangboi expressed satisfaction over the work executed under MGNREGA by the people of Irang areas and solicit any development policies and step from the areas so as to enable the govt to reach all round development to the remotest areas.

Highlighting various grievances of the peoples of Irang areas Hari Prasad Nepal, Irang Part-I GB submitted a memorandum to the MLA stating that due to non-availability of educational institutions even at primary level children of 12 Miles comprising Chuchekhop, Dahalthari and Lamchok have been deprived of basic education and request the MLA to set up one Primary School at the said village.

The GB also urged the MLA to construct one Marketing Shed and a Waiting Shed for the economic development of the people of 10 Miles Poudel Basti while requesting the MLA for conversion of Grant-in-aid Schools of the areas to full-fledged government schools and upgrade Indira Aided Junior High School and Singarupa Aided Jr.High School to Govt. High School as well as Paudel Primary School to Jr.High School respectively.

Apart from other many grievances put up and requests made to the MLA, the GB further urged the MLA to construct a water supply and an additional Sub-Primary Health Centre at Paudel Basti.

Several memorandums from various organizations and villages GB have been submitted to the local MLA which she assured to look into.
