IMPHAL, October 26: The dead body of the excavator JCB driver Meisnam Devaraj alias Tomtom of Khurai Sajor Leirak who went missing since October 14 was found today at K Sinam Senjang village, Tupul Senapati along the National Highway 37.
Meanwhile, police have arrested four in connection with the case from different areas since yesterday.
The dead body was retrieved following interrogation of the four arrested, police said.
A father and son duo was amongst the four accused arrested, police said.
It may be mentioned that Devraj had gone missing ever since he was hired along with his excavator JCB on October 14 by unknown persons, before his dead body was found late this evening buried.
According to police source, a team of the Imphal west police under the supervision of a senior police officer had arrested one of the accused yesterday evening.
The arrested accused revealed his other accomplices resulting in the arrest of the remaining three this morning, the source informed.
During interrogation, the four revealed that the dead body of the driver was buried at K Sinam Senjang village, Tupul.
The missing vehicle was found from between Tupul and Noney and brought back to Imphal by a police team.
The source further said that Devaraj could have been murdered a few days back and buried at the village.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports have identified two of the accused as Shyamchand of Thanga and Chalamba of Thoubal Ningombam.
Police have taken up a case regarding the murder case.
Till the filling of this report, the dead body of the JCB driver had not reach RIMS Imphal where his dead body will be deposited for the post mortem.
It may be mention that locals of Khurai and the JAC formed in connection with the missing of the JCB excavator driver had staged a sit in protest and taken out a rally earlier.
They had also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and called a 12 hour Bandh on October 23 along the Imphal-Ukhrul road, Imphal Saikhul road and Imphal Tinsid road demanding the safe release of the M Devaraj alias Tomtom.
