IMPHAL, October 6: Sagolband MLA RK Imo today led from the fore in a drive to clean up drains and nullahs of Paona Bazar using his Local Area Development fund to provide for heavy machineries like desolating and collecting machines of the PDA.
Speaking to media persons, the MLA said he had approached the concerned officials of PDA to provide the required machineries alongwith staff and workers following complaints from locals that the drains and nullahs have not been cleaned in the past 20 years.
The cleaning up of the drains will provide some relief to the people during the rainy season, he said.
RK Imo continued that last year he had also supervised similar activities of cleaning drains and nullahs in the Kangjeibung and Masjid Road areas.
He said that the cleaning of drains will continue for another two three days covering the entire Paona bazar areas, Wahengbam Leikai to Keishampat and Wahengbam to Sagolband.
