KOHIMA, Oct 29 (NEPS): Renowned International Muaythai leader and President of Muaythai Federation of India (MFI), Oken Jeet Sandham, has become first President of the K-1 South Asia (K-1SA).

Many well-known figures of World K-1 Federation will also assist Oken Jeet Sandham, besides Advisers to K-1 South Asia. He is also the Honorary Chairman of the K-1 Federation of India (K-1FI).

Oken Jeet Sandham is one of the leading martial arts exponents and founder President of the Muaythai Federation of India (MFI).  Hundreds of Muaythai athletes and officials of India under his leadership have been taking part in various World Muaythai Championships, Seminars, Workshops and other Muaythai events held in various parts of the world for the last 2 decades.

One of the most memorable chapters in the history of Indian Muaythai is his successfully leading the Indian Muaythai Team to the 13th Asian Games 1998 at Bangkok, Thailand. He has officially brought Muaythai in India way back in 1990 and successfully guiding the National Muaythai Federation till date with many success stories.

Oken Jeet Sandham will travel in various parts of the South Asian countries to promote K-1 Styles and Events with the support and backing of various well known industrialists in their respective countries, besides meeting Government machineries there as to how K-1 will be strengthened and streamlined.

K-1 combines stand up techniques from Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Savate, San Shou, kickboxing, western-style boxing, and other martial arts. Its rules are similar to those of kickboxing but they have been simplified to promote exciting matches that may end in a knockout win.

K-1 is the most prestigious and the most famous martial arts organization, providing spectacles throughout all the twelve months since 1993, a culmination of which is the final tournament in Japan’s capital, Tokyo. Now, K-1 Tournaments have also been organized in various parts of the world. K-1 has its World Amateur -1 Championships, Continental Championships, K-1 Grand Prix Championships, etc.
