IMPHAL, October 28: Professor M Mani Meitei, Department of English has been relieved of his assignment as Director (In charge) of the Academic Staff College, in connection with the physical assault taken place in MU on October 10.
An official order of the university signed by Professor N Lokendra Singh registrar, released on October 25, a one-man fact finding Committee was constituted by the Manipur University to establish the veracity of charges and counter charges of physical assault between Professor M Mani Meitei and Dr H Shukhdeba Sharma.
It said that as per the resolution adopted by the Executive Council it appointed Kunjabihari Singh, retired IAS to head the enquiry.
“During the pendency of the fact finding process, Prof. Mani Meitei, Department of English has been relieved of his assignment as Director (incharge) of the Academic Staff College”, it said.
Meanwhile, Professor MC Arunkumar, Department of Anthropology shall look after the office of the Director, Academic Staff College in addition to his normal duties with immediate effect on the date of issuance of the order until further orders.
