IMPHAL, October 27: Even the pouring rain could not dampen the spirit of the visitors who swarmed the Chinjak Festival Regional-2013 being organized by the Innovative Youth Society and BOSS juice at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen on the third day today.
The highlight of the festival was a cycle rally organized by Manipur Cycle Club that was participated by around 40 cyclists and set off from the venue. The participants converged at the same spot after passing through Wangkhei Ayangpali, Kongba, Khongman, Singjamei, Pishumthong, Khagempali, Keisamthong, Paona Bazaar, Thangal Bazaar, Nityaipat Chuthek and Sanjenthong. The rally was part of a promotional drive by Chinjak to advertise the festival. It was led by national awardee film actress Tonthoi.
On the other hand, a panel discussion and interaction session on certain challenges, prospect and consequences of the cuisine in the state which are categorized as vegetable and non-vegetarian with respect to the customs and tradition of the state.
The session was participated by associate editor, Imphal Free Press, Chitra Ahanthem; editor of Kanglapao, P Ibochouba; assistant editor of Poknapham, RK Angousana; desk editor of ISTV, Richard Ranjan; Y Mangi and moderated by Times of India correspondent, Saroj.
Speaking to IFP, the owner of the BOSS Juice Cafe Shanta Nahakpam said that the BOSS Juice Cafe is a seasonal fruit juice cafe and oil-free chicken cuisines are also available.
He further said that cafe depended mostly on the seasonal fruits which is available in the state and moreover, the milk used for various items are also collected from the local dairies only.
He continued that even though the cafe depends on seasonal fruits it produce at least 15 varieties of juice and the bands and blocked have not affected as it is wholly dependent on local fruits.
Elaborating further, he said that as compared to previous Chinjak festivals the arrival of customers and visitors has not decreased despite the rain and hoped that there will be improvement.
