Respect others` culture, customs: C Doungel

IMPHAL, October 11: “The popular integrity slogan of manipur `Eikhoi Chingmi Tammi amatani` would be meaningless if we don`t respect the customs and culture of each other”, C Doungel, ex-minister (Finance) said while attending the 1st foundation day of the Aimol Custom and Culture Development Organization (ACACDO).

“We should promote and preserve our own customs and culture. And at the same time we must also respect the customs and cultures of others as well”, he continued.

The function was held at Aimol Khullen village, Chandel district with the objective to promote and preserve the distinct customs and cultures.

The function was also attended by Dr K Sushila, Deputy Director State Archives as chief guest; Wanneilen Serto, MFS Sub-Treasury Officer Moreh and Ch. Thangkholian Aimol, Assistant Inspector of School ZEO

C Doungel had said that all the tribal of the state particularly the different tribes of Chandel District are one family having common origin called Khul/Khur which mean cave.

He continued that even though the people are practicing different customs and cultures, there are several similarities in the customs and culture amongst the different tribes.

During the program, cultural dances were performed by different tribes like Thadou-Kuki, Maring, Meitei and Aimol in which a large number of students’ leaders, social organizations leaders and village chiefs also attended the programme.
