RIMS conducts breastfeeding sensitization workshop for nurses

    IMPHAL, October 5: A two day workshop on sensitization of nurses on breast feeding was yesterday inaugurated at RIMS by the Director Prof S Sekharjit, informed a press release of the RIMS.

    During the workshop, 30 nurses were trained and such kind workshops for other remaining nurses will also be given training.

    Speaking at the inaugural function, Prof Sekharjit asserted that the objective of the workshop is to sensitize the nurses of the hospital so that they could give advices and basic techniques to the young mothers on breast feeding.  The workshop was organized by the departments of Community Medicine and Obs & Gynae, under the sponsorship of RIMS, it said.

    Prof P Romola who is the organizing secretary of the workshop said that the response from the nurses was impressive. She also underlined the role of the nurses on educating the young mothers on the usefulness and importance of breast feeding to the babies.

    She further elaborated that most of the young mothers are working women thereby opting preferences of bottle feeding of their babies adding that there is a need to create awareness among the young mothers.
