Seven seriously injured in Jiri accident

    JIRIBAM, October 10: Atleast seven persons have been seriously injured with four of them in a critical condition when a Mahindra jeep, used for the Railway construction works hit a Tata Sumo and Maruti Van which was parked waiting for passengers this morning around 7 near the Institute for Children with Disabilities (ICD), Chandrapur in Jiribam sub-division.

    Reports said the Mahindra jeep bearing registration no MN-01X 8767 after losing control hit the Maruti Van bearing registration no AS 11F 7244 and Tata Sumo bearing registration no AS-11BC 3057 at full speed while it were waiting for passengers to fill in.

    The seven injured were rushed to Community Health Centre, Jiribam. Later, four of them were shifted to Silchar Hospital after their condition deteriorated.

    The four who are seriously injured have been identified as H Ranisana Devi (44), Th Roshan Singh (28), Binoy (42) and Adul Hussain (44).

    After hearing about the accident, a team of Jiri Police rushed to the spot and arrested the driver of the Mahindra Jeep. A case has been registered by the police in connection with the accident, reports added.
