SSU extends unbeaten MSL run to six matches

    IMPHAL, October 12: Table leader Southern Sporting Union, Singjamei, SSU today extended its lead at the points table of the ongoing 8th Manipur State League by defeating Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union, TRUGPU by a solitary goal.

    The table leader has now 14 points at the start of the sixth round of the league.

    Of the six matches played in the league, SSU has four wins, and two draw without any loss, so far.

    Today’s matches were played at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

    Y Sachidananda jersey no 3 of SSU scored the only goal of the first match of the sixth round of the MSL in the 20th minute.

    The lone scorer of the match, Sachidananda and Oken both from the winning team were shown the yellow card, while, S Herojit of TRUGPU was also cautioned.

    TRUGPU has now 8 points and will next meet NEROCA on October 16, while SSU will meet North Imphal Sporting Association, Thangmeiband who managed to gain just a single point from its previous 9 points after being held in a 2-2 draw today by Zomi Football Club, CCpur.

    In the second match of the day, ZFC held back NISA in a 2-2 draw.

    Kh Naoton jersey no 9 of ZFC scored the opener in the 27th minute to take the lead till the end of the first half.

    However, soon after the start of the second half in the 47th minute, L Sanatomba, jersey no 9 scored the equaliser.

    Golmei Gaikhaningpu added another for NISA in the 52nd minute, while Helun Haokip scored another for ZFC to finish the match in a 2-2 draw.

    Kh Naoton and Thangminlun of ZFC and Th Surjit Singh of NISA were cautioned during the play.
